Kakinada, Jan 31 (TNT): Superintendent of police Garikipati Bindu Madhav donated blood at the medical camp held at the Lorry unions office organized jointly by the Police and Transport departments to mark the conclusion of the 37th National road safety month celebrations on Saturday.
Madhav, who also participated as the chief guest of the function, made several important suggestions to the lorry drivers on road safety regulations.
He advised them to keep away from accidents by observing traffic rules while driving .
He said every one should wear a helmet, use a seat belt and observe traffic rules to ensure not only their safety while driving but also the safety of other road users.
Madhav further said that auto drivers if they take more passengers beyond stipulated capacity, it would be difficult for them to control the vehicle and there is scope for accidents.
In this context, the SP has cited the Auto taking Kendriya vidyalaya students which met with an accident the other day in which one girl student died.` Everyone should remember that Life is important than the speed. Proper change is not coming in the people inspite of organizing several awareness meetings on road safety.
Accidents can be reduced considerably by Self control, awareness on road safety and observing of road safety regulations, the SP added.
Later prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions in drawing, essay writing and quiz conducted by the Transport department.
MLC Karri Padma, Deputy transport commissioner K Sridhar, RTO Murali krishna ,Special Branch DSP KVV Satyanarayana ,Doctors of GGH and private hospitals, Lorry union members , students and teachers were among those attended.
