Kakianda: Libraries to be revamped for competitive exam aspirants: Chairman

Kakinada, Jan 31 (TNT): District Library Authority Chairman Bhupatiraju Eswera Raja Varma on Saturday said that public libraries across the district would be revamped to better serve students preparing for competitive examinations.

Presiding over the District Library Authority budget meeting held at the district library here, Varma announced that the annual budget for the purchase of competitive examination books would be enhanced from ₹10 lakh to ₹15 lakh.

He said a decision was taken to revive all four Book Deposit Centres that were earlier closed. The centres are located at Peddapuram Sub-Jail, Aryapuram in Rajahmundry, Thetagunta in Tuni, and Jaggavaram in Kunavaram mandal.

The meeting approved the budget estimates for the year 2026–27 with a total outlay of ₹39 crore. It also resolved to initiate steps for the collection of ₹5.48 crore in pending library cess dues from various panchayats.

Information and Public Relations Department AEI Baburao, District Library Secretary Polanki Nagaraju, Deputy Librarian Kishore, and officials from the Education, Panchayat, and Adult Education departments attended the meeting.
