BJP to Intensify Agitation Against Congress Govt in Telangana: Ramchander Rao

Hyderabad, Mar 23 (TNT):Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday said the party would intensify its agitation against the Congress government, alleging failure to implement promises and guarantees made to the people.

Rao made the remarks while addressing the media at Punjagutta police station, where he was taken into custody along with several party leaders and workers during a protest march towards the Assembly.

According to the BJP, hundreds of activists, including women, were detained while attempting to “siege the Assembly” as part of a protest against the government’s alleged inaction on its assurances.

The BJP leader alleged that even after over two years in power, the Congress government has failed to deliver on its commitments.

He said the protest was organised to “question the government and raise the voice of the people,” terming the arrests of party leaders as reflective of an “anti-democratic attitude.”

Rao claimed that over 800 BJP workers, including around 150 women and several Yuva Morcha activists, were detained across multiple police stations.

He also alleged that several leaders were placed under house arrest and party workers from districts were prevented from entering Hyderabad.

The BJP chief further alleged that barring free bus travel for women, none of the “Six Guarantees” promised by the Congress government were being effectively implemented.

He accused the government of failing various sections, including farmers, youth, and marginalised communities, despite pre-election assurances.

Rao said dues under schemes such as Rythu Bharosa remain pending and flagged delays in fee reimbursement, which he claimed were affecting students.

He also raised concerns over delays in pensions and retirement benefits, alleging negligence by the government.

Warning of intensified protests, Rao said the BJP would continue to press for immediate implementation of the promises made to the people.
