Telangana Governor Attends Bihar Diwas Celebrations in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, along with First Lady Janaki Shukla, attended the Bihar Foundation Day (Bihar Diwas) celebrations as chief guests at Lok Bhavan here on Sunday.

Extending greetings to the gathering, the Governor paid tributes to the leaders and people of Bihar for their role in the formation and development of the state.

Addressing the event, Shukla said Bihar Diwas marks the creation of the state on March 22, 1912, when it was carved out of the Bengal Presidency, and noted that Bihar has since remained an integral part of India, contributing significantly to its cultural, spiritual, political and educational heritage.

Recalling Bihar’s rich legacy, the Governor highlighted its historical importance as a centre of learning and civilisation, citing ancient institutions such as Nalanda and Vikramshila, and noting that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya.

The event was organised under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of the Government of India, aimed at promoting national integration through cultural exchange among states and Union Territories.

A video message from the Governor of Bihar was screened on the occasion, along with a presentation by the Bihar Tourism Department showcasing the state’s heritage.

The programme also featured cultural performances reflecting the traditions of Bihar.

Several dignitaries, including M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Governor, Vijay Kumar, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence), senior officials and members of the Bihar community in Hyderabad, attended the event.
