Farmers, Women Key Beneficiaries of Govt Schemes: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Mar 17 (TNT)Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu in the Assembly on Tuesday said farmers and women are the primary beneficiaries of the state government’s welfare initiatives, highlighting financial assistance and empowerment schemes during his address in the Assembly.

He said farmers are saving around ₹25,000 each through the paddy bonus scheme, with ₹500 per quintal being directly credited to those cultivating fine paddy.

He added that ₹9,000 crore was disbursed to farmers within nine days under Rythu Bharosa.

Emphasising women’s empowerment, the Deputy CM said over ₹20,000 crore annually is being extended as interest-free loans through Self-Help Groups, with a cumulative ₹57,000 crore already credited.

He noted that empowering women leads to the overall progress of families and the state.

Targeting the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), he alleged that its leaders lack respect for women and accused senior leader K. T. Rama Rao of making remarks that hurt their sentiments.

He also criticised the previous regime for not ensuring adequate representation for women.

The Deputy CM said the government is committed to continuing interest-free loans and aims to create one crore women millionaires.

He highlighted the implementation of free bus travel for women across the state, stating that the scheme was launched immediately after assuming office and that reimbursements are being made to the state transport corporation.

On housing, he said the government has sanctioned ₹5 lakh per unit under the Indiramma housing scheme and launched construction of 4.5 lakh houses in the first phase, allocating ₹22,500 crore. He termed it a record investment in housing.

He also accused the previous BRS government of failing to deliver on key promises, including double-bedroom houses, employment, and welfare commitments, while asserting that the present administration is implementing its electoral guarantees.
