Heritage Aviation expans fleet; sings Airbus H130 helicopter deal at Wings India event in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (TNT) : Heritage Aviation Pvt. Ltd., an India-based helicopter operator, has signed a contract with Airbus for the acquisition of one H130 helicopter, strengthening its expansion plans in heli-pilgrimage and regional connectivity under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme.

The contract was signed at Wings India 2026 at begumpet airport here, with delivery scheduled for September 2026, Airbus said in a statement on Friday.

The addition will support Heritage Aviation’s strategy to scale operations in high-growth regional and underserved markets.

The newly contracted H130 will be deployed for passenger transport, heli-pilgrimage and regional connectivity missions, adding capacity to the company’s existing fleet of Airbus H125 and H130 helicopters operating under the UDAN scheme.

“The helicopter industry in India is witnessing strong tailwinds driven by favourable government policies and rising demand for regional air mobility. This induction will help us expand into new geographies, including North East India,” said Rohit Mathur, Founder and CEO of Heritage Aviation Pvt. Ltd.

Airbus Helicopters said the deal underscores growing private-sector participation in India’s regional aviation ecosystem.

“Heritage Aviation has been instrumental in addressing last-mile connectivity challenges in difficult terrains. This order aligns with the government’s ambition to widen regional connectivity and strengthen the para-public aviation market,” said Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters in India and South Asia.

The H130 is a single-engine helicopter known for its operating efficiency, high performance and passenger comfort. With seating for up to seven passengers plus a pilot, advanced avionics and a low environmental footprint, it is well suited for commercial operations in mountainous and environmentally sensitive regions.

Heritage Aviation has emerged as a key player in helicopter connectivity, particularly in Uttarakhand, offering services across heli-tourism, aerial work, rescue and disaster-relief operations.

The company has also been among the first private operators to operationalise commercially challenging routes such as Dehradun–Pithoragarh and Haldwani–Munsyari, improving access to remote regions and creating new regional mobility corridors.
