Telangana Charts Bold Vision: $3 Trillion Economy by 2047, Citizens at the Core of Governance*

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (TNT) : Telangana on Monday unveiled its roadmap for transformative growth, with a clear vision to become a ‘$3 trillion economy by 2047’, guided by citizen-centric governance and inclusive development.

Addressing a joint session of the state Legislature to mark the start of the budget session, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla highlighted the Government’s commitment to ‘Praja Palana’, putting people at the heart of every policy,  decision, and initiative.

The ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ vision aligns with India’s Vikasit Bharat 2047 agenda and draws on inputs from NITI Aayog, ISB, and NALSAR University.

The state has adopted the ‘CURE–PURE–RARE model’ for balanced development, he said the Core Urban Region (CURE) will transform Hyderabad into a net-zero, knowledge-driven global hub, with the GHMC trifurcated for improved governance.

The Peri-Urban Region (PURE) will drive manufacturing, logistics, and industrial growth, while the Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE) will strengthen agriculture, eco-tourism, and food processing, the Governor said.

Major infrastructure projects include the ‘Musi Riverfront Transformation, lake rejuvenation, Hyderabad–Amaravati Expressway, radial roads, bullet train connectivity, and new airports at Warangal and Adilabad, he said  Telangana’s services sector continues to grow, with ‘IT exports at ₹3.13 lakh crore’, supporting over 9.3 lakh jobs, while initiatives like WE-Hub and the Life Sciences Policy have attracted significant investment.

Agriculture remains a priority, with ₹26,684 crore allocated, record foodgrain production, Rythu Bharosa payments, crop loan waivers, solar irrigation, and the Bhudhaar land system for efficient administration, he said housing and employment schemes include 4.5 lakh homes under Indiramma Indlu and 6.52 crore person-days generated through MGNREGS. Women-centric programs such as the Mahalakshmi scheme and SHG enterprises have expanded opportunities, with over ₹57,000 crore in loans extended and 4.7 lakh micro-enterprises created.

Education and skill development initiatives include Young India Integrated Residential Schools, the Young India Skills University, ITI upgrades, and specialized universities in sports and earth sciences, he said healthcare improvements have reduced maternal mortality to 43 and infant mortality to 18, while Rajiv Aarogyasri coverage for BPL families has doubled to ₹10 lakh.

The government has strengthened social justice and governance through the ‘SEEEPC (Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste) Survey ‘, SC sub-categorization, 42% reservation for backward classes, anti-drug measures, women’s safety programs, and digital grievance redressal resolving 47,670 petitions, he said.

Cultural and tourism initiatives include the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards, the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara attended by nearly 2 crore devotees, and temple redevelopment projects at Bhadrachalam and Vemulawada, with plans for Eco-Temple Tourism and Godavari Pushkaralu preparations, the Governor said.

Telangana is positioned for global competitiveness, citizen-driven progress, and sustainable development. Every policy and initiative aims to empower citizens, foster innovation, and drive inclusive growth, steering the state toward its $3 trillion economy vision by 204, the Governor said in his 90-point, 30-page address.

He concluded, ‘Let us work together, with unity, confidence, and unwavering commitment, to realize the dream’.

Earlier, Shukla unveiled the Telangana Thalli (Mother Telangana) statue and paid floral tributes to the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar within the Assembly premises.

Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, along with several ministers and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
