Amaravati, Mar 15 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will unveil a 58-ft bronze statue of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu at Shakhamuru Park in Amaravati on Monday on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister will unveil the statue at 11.15 a.m.
The memorial project, being developed on 6.80 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore, marks the first phase of the Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu Memorial.
The statue, constructed by the Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust, was completed in a record six months. About 26 tonnes of bronze and 42 tonnes of iron structure were used in its construction.
In the second phase, a museum, photo gallery, auditorium and skill development centre will be developed at the site.
The memorial complex is being designed to commemorate the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, who undertook a 58-day fast demanding a separate state for Telugu-speaking people.
Later in the evening, the Chief Minister will travel to Vijayawada to participate in an Iftar dinner organised by the state government in honour of the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramzan and extend greetings to them.
