Former DGP H.J. Dora Cremated with State Honours in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (TNT): The last rites of former Director General of Police H. J. Dora were performed with official honours at Mahaprasthanam here on Saturday.

The 83-year-old former DGP passed away while undergoing treatment at NIMS here on Friday morning.

Dora, who served as the Director General of Police of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and was known as a reformer in the police department, was cremated amid emotional scenes as senior police officials, staff and admirers paid their last respects.

The funeral procession began from his residence in Jubilee Hills and proceeded to Mahaprasthanam where the cremation was carried out with official honours.

Several senior officials and dignitaries paid floral tributes to the mortal remains earlier in the day. Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy personally carried the bier as a mark of respect to his mentor.

He was joined by  Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V. C. Sajjanar and Cyberabad Commissioner of Police M. Ramesh, who also carried the bier during the final journey.

Former DGP Jitender and several senior IPS officers including Rajeev Trivedi, S. Chandrasekhar Reddy and Kamalasan Reddy paid floral tributes and recalled Dora’s contributions to the police system.

Officials remembered Dora as a dedicated officer who played a significant role in strengthening the police administration during his tenure.
