Amaravati, Mar 13 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Friday reviewed the construction plans for the prestigious ‘Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani AI Plus Campus’ in Amaravati.
Representatives from BITS, including Siddhartha Banerjee, N. Chennaveer, and B.S. Sahani, met the minister at his Undavalli residence and presented detailed plans for the upcoming AI-focused campus.
The officials said the Amaravati campus will offer advanced courses in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, Computational Linguistics, and Cyber-Physical Systems, among others.
The campus is being designed in two phases to accommodate around 7,000 students, with an estimated investment of ₹100 crore over the next five years.
“Aligned with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, this campus will integrate next-generation technologies,” the BITS representatives said. Construction has already begun, incorporating green building practices and renewable energy solutions.
BITS Amaravati is expected to be the first dedicated AI campus in India, with plans to include courses spanning agriculture, environmental studies, and healthcare, alongside advanced technology programs.
Minister Lokesh expressed satisfaction with the plans and urged officials to take all necessary steps to inaugurate the Amaravati campus at the earliest.
