Mumbai, Mar 11 (TNT) M. P. Ahammad, Chairman of the Malabar Group, has been honoured with the Business Bhushan Award at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2026.
The award was presented by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at a ceremony held at the Gateway of India here on Wednesday , in the presence of Deputy Chief Eknath Shinde and Lokmat Chairman Vijay Darda.
Ahammad was recognised for his leadership in transforming Malabar Gold & Diamonds into one of the world’s leading jewellery retailers.
Founded in 1993, the brand now operates 425 showrooms across 14 countries and is the largest jewellery retailer of Indian origin.
The group currently has 34 showrooms in Maharashtra and plans to expand to 64 outlets in the state by 2029.
The company also allocates five per cent of its profits to CSR initiatives, focusing on education, healthcare, housing support and women’s empowerment.
