GMR Aero Sweeps top Honours at Wings India 2026; Delhi Airport Named Best Airport of the Year

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (TNT) : GMR Aero, the aviation business arm of the GMR Group, emerged as a standout performer at Wings India 2026, India’s premier civil aviation event, winning multiple prestigious awards for Delhi International Airport and GMR Aero Technic.

The awards were presented by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K. Rammohan Naidu,  on the second of Wings India event  at Begumpet Airport here on Thursday evening..

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) was conferred the “Best Airport of the Year” award in recognition of its excellence in passenger experience, operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and technology-led innovation.

The airport has consistently invested in smart systems, digital passenger facilitation, and capacity enhancement to manage rising passenger traffic seamlessly.

In a further recognition of its environmental leadership, Delhi Airport was also named “Sustainability Champion”, acknowledging its achievements in renewable energy adoption, carbon neutrality initiatives, waste management, water stewardship, and sustainable airport operations.

The airport is among the few globally to attain advanced levels of Airport Carbon Accreditation, reflecting its strong commitment to climate action.

Operated by GMR Airports Limited (GAL), Delhi Airport is India’s busiest airport and a major global aviation hub, connecting the country to key international destinations while supporting national aviation growth and sustainable infrastructure development.

Further strengthening GMR Aero’s performance, GMR Aero Technic, the group’s Hyderabad-based aircraft maintenance subsidiary, was awarded “Best MRO Services”, recognising its role in building world-class maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in India.
