Tadepalligudem (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 9 (TNT): ASR Homoeopathic Medical College (ASRHMC) celebrated International Women’s Day here on Monday with a series of rural health camps and an empowerment programme under the theme “Honouring the Warrior Within.”
The programme was organised in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission and the Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust (UARDT).
The celebrations began with Women’s Health Awareness and Free Homoeopathic Medical Camps conducted simultaneously in four villages—Ballipadu, Paiduvarru, Attili and Relangi.
Faculty members and students of the college provided clinical consultations and health awareness to hundreds of rural women.
Diagnostic tests including Hb%, RBS, Thyroid Profile and Lipid Profile were also offered at a nominal cost to promote preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases.
The afternoon session at the college seminar hall featured an elocution competition followed by a ceremonial programme.
As part of the Investiture Ceremony, dignitaries presented White Scarves to newly appointed International Women’s Day Campus Ambassadors, who will serve as student representatives promoting gender justice and campus safety.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief guest Akula Rama Kumari, the Secretary and correspondent of ASR Group of institutions, stressed the importance of courage and resilience in achieving self-reliance. She urged women to face challenges with confidence and develop their identity through determination.
Other speakers included ASR Group of institutions Director Akuula Vimala and ASRHMC Professor and HOD Department of {Practice of Medicine V. Shoba Rani, who spoke on professional ethics and leadership in healthcare.
Advocate and Bheemunipatnam Bar Association Secretary K. Manjula and Neuro Psychiatrist Dr Sritha addressed legal and psychological aspects of women’s empowerment on the occasion.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. Dignitaries, ambassadors, staff and students also signed the ASR Commitment Wall, pledging to uphold the dignity and rights of women.
College Principal Dr.Ananda Kumar Pingali said the event successfully combined community service with academic engagement, reinforcing the institution’s mission of creating an inclusive and socially responsible campus.
