Kakinada, Mar 4 (TNT) : Joint Collector Apurva Bharat on Wednesday inspected the special sanitation drive launched across municipalities in Kakinada district to improve cleanliness and waste management.
In Kakinada Municipal Corporation, the Joint Collector, along with Municipal Commissioner N.V. Satyanarayana, reviewed sanitation works taken up along the Kakinada–Samalkot canal road.
Civic staff, using JCBs and tractors, cleared piled-up garbage and sand heaps from Indrapalem bridge to Prathap Nagar bridge.
Apurva Bharat said the special drive was initiated to strengthen sanitation standards across the district. The Commissioner noted that garbage was being dumped on the canal road during night hours and warned of strict action against violators.
He said night patrols would be intensified and CCTV cameras installed to monitor illegal dumping.
The Joint Collector also visited Pithapuram, Peddapuram, Samalkot and Gollaprolu towns to review the ongoing sanitation works with municipal officials.
Additional Commissioner K.T. Sudhakar, SE P. Venkatrao, and Health Officer Dr D. Prudhwicharan were among the officials present during the inspection.
