Hyderabad, Mar 3 (TNT): Telangana state on Tuesday successfully met a record peak power demand of 18,139 MW, the highest in the state’s history, without any disruption, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said.
The peak demand was registered at 11:01 AM.
Congratulating officials and staff of the state power utilities, the Deputy Chief Minister said the unprecedented load was managed efficiently while ensuring uninterrupted and quality power supply.
He said the achievement reflects Telangana’s economic growth and the operational efficiency of its power sector.
Despite its relatively smaller geographical size, the state has reached peak demand levels comparable to larger states such as Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, and has surpassed several industrial states in power consumption.
Highlighting the steady rise in demand, he said the peak stood at 15,623 MW in 2023-24 and 17,162 MW in 2024-25, before touching 18,139 MW this year.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government is prepared to meet the upcoming summer peak demand with advance planning, a robust grid system and coordinated operations.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to reliable and quality power supply, he said the collective efforts of power utility personnel enabled Telangana to set a new benchmark in the sector.
