UoH Launches Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on AI

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (TNT) : The University of Hyderabad (UoH)  on Monday inaugurated a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at equipping faculty members from undergraduate and professional colleges across Andhra Pradesh with AI applications for teaching and research.

The programme, being conducted from March 2 to 6, is organised under the aegis of the Executive Education Cell, School of Management Studies, UoH, in association with the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), Andhra University, and the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The inaugural batch comprises 80 faculty members, including 40 each from Commerce and Management, and Life Sciences disciplines.

The participants will receive hands-on training from faculty members of UoH and domain experts, focusing on subject-specific applications of AI and its integration into curriculum and research.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.J. Rao inaugurated the programme at the East Campus Auditorium and highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in higher education and the need for faculty to adapt to technological advancements.

Other university officials present included Registrar Dr. Devesh Nigam, Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna, Director, IoE Programme, and Prof. G.V.R.K. Acharyulu, Dean, School of Management Studies.

APSCHE Chairman Prof. K. Madhu Murthy, along with other council members, participated virtually and emphasised the state government’s focus on enhancing AI capabilities among faculty to improve classroom delivery.

The programme is coordinated by Prof. Lokanandha Reddy Irala, with Prof. D.V. Srinivas Kumar serving as Associate Coordinator. The initiative aims to strengthen AI literacy and adoption across higher education institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
