TTD Chief refutes allegations Over Viral Video; YSRCP demands his removal

Tirupati, Mar 1 (TNT) : Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman , B. R. Naidu, on Sunday evening strongly refuted allegations linked to a video circulating on social media and warned of legal action against those allegedly spreading  misinformation campaign against him.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Naidu said there was nothing objectionable in the video and alleged that political opponents were drawing unwarranted conclusions to tarnish his image.

He clarified that the woman seen in the visuals was a family friend for over three decades and that the photographs were taken during a pilgrimage to Shirdi.

He claimed that certain images had been morphed and misused in the video being circulated and asserted that he would initiate appropriate legal proceedings against those responsible for what he termed a smear campaign.

The controversy follows allegations by senior leader of the YSR Congress Party and former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who demanded Mr. Naidu’s resignation.

Mr. Reddy alleged that an individual facing moral allegations was unfit to head a sacred institution like the TTD and said such a situation had not arisen in the temple body’s 94-year history.

He also urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to remove Mr. B.R. Naidu from office if he did not step down voluntarily.

Dismissing the charges as politically motivated, the TTD Chairman said efforts to malign him began soon after he assumed charge and termed the allegations an attempt to defame him.
