SCR records highest-ever single-day ticket checking revenue of Rs 1.18 crore
Hyderabad, Nov 6 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded its highest-ever single-day ticket checking revenue of Rs 1.18 crore by registering 11,150 cases of ticketless and irregular travel during an intensive drive conducted across the zone on November 5.
The drive was undertaken across the Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions in view of the expected rush of passengers during the Diwali and Chhath festivals, following instructions from SCR Principal Chief Commercial Manager Ity Pandey, the Railways said in a release on Friday.
The revenue of Rs 1.18 crore is the highest single-day collection recorded by the zone since its bifurcation in June 2026.
Against the zone’s average daily ticket checking revenue of Rs 33.44 lakh from around 4,373 cases, the latest drive resulted in a significantly higher collection.
Secunderabad Division contributed the highest revenue of Rs 1.02 crore.
As many as 117 women ticket checking staff also participated in the drive alongside their male counterparts.
The exercise aimed at curbing ticketless and irregular travel in reserved and unreserved coaches of passenger and express trains, besides ensuring that genuine passengers were not inconvenienced. It also sought to create awareness among passengers about travelling with valid tickets or proper travel authority.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the Commercial Department and ticket checking staff for their efforts, stating that intensive drives would help protect genuine passengers, curb irregular travel and ensure smooth journeys.
