Hyundai shortlists 16 startups from 980 applications under Innovation Challenge

Gurugram, Oct 30 (TNT) : Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has shortlisted 16 startups from 980 applications received across the country under its inaugural Hyundai Innovation Challenge 2026, aimed at identifying innovative technologies for the future of mobility.

The shortlisted startups presented their solutions to the leadership teams of HMIL and Hyundai Motor India Engineering Private Limited (HMIE) at the Grand Pitch Day held on October 29, following multiple rounds of evaluation, mentoring and business reviews, the company said in a release on Friday.

Launched in April 2026, the initiative was supported by Hyundai Motor Group’s global open innovation platform ZER01NE.

It focused on 15 strategic areas, including vehicle electrification, smart mobility, connectivity, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), artificial intelligence, customer experience and next-generation automotive technologies.

HMIL Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the challenge reflected the company’s belief that collaboration between established industry players and startups would play a key role in shaping the future of mobility.

He said the participation demonstrated India’s entrepreneurial and technological capabilities, adding that the company would continue to support startups in developing solutions for smarter, safer and more sustainable mobility.

In the next phase, HMIL will explore pilot projects, proof-of-concept initiatives, technology validation and potential business collaborations with selected startups to assess the practical application of their innovations.
