Hyderabad, Feb 27 (TNT): Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dr M.V. Soundararajan, Chief Priest of the Chilkur Balaji Temple, popularly known as “Telangana Tirupati”.
In a condolence message, Varma said Dr Soundararajan had dedicated his life to spiritual service, upholding social values and the principle of equality before the Divine.
His passing has left a deep void in the Hindu spiritual community, the Governor said.
He prayed for peace to the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, devotees and admirers.
Meanwhile, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao also expressed grief over the demise of Dr Soundararajan, describing it as an irreparable loss to the spiritual world.
In his message, Rao said Dr Soundararajan worked tirelessly for the preservation of Indian culture and Dharma.
Recalling his service as a Professor at Osmania University, Rao said he was deeply committed to the service of Lord Venkateswara and guided devotees with teachings that instilled faith and self-confidence.
Rao further said that Dr Soundararajan was instrumental in transforming Chilkur into a “hundi-less” temple and had led movements for the protection and autonomy of temples.
He added that his efforts demonstrated that temples could be centres of spirituality and devotion rather than commercial enterprises.
The BJP leader conveyed his deepest condolences to the family members, disciples and devotees of Dr Soundararajan.
