Gram Panchayat workers lay siege of Kakinada Collectorate

Kakinada , Feb 27 (TNT): As a part of statewide agitation call ,the Gram panchayat workers have staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Friday in support of their demands mainly releasing of special funds for Panchayat workers in the state Budget  besides payment of Rs.21,000 as the minimum wage.

They are also demanding the GOs No 132,142,680  issued as a result of their agitation in the past should be implemented ,tenders policy be scrapped and the wage arrears pending in various panchayats  be released without further delay.

Tension prevailed for quite some time with the alleged rude behaviour of one of the head constable (HC) who reportedly slapped the union leader Ch Ajaykumar and in turn agitators laid siege of the Collectorate demanding the HC’s  suspension.

Leaders of various unions Ayithabattula Rameswerarao, CITU District President  Duvva Seshu Babji, Rural secretary  T Raja, Gram Panchayat workers union leader Ch Ajaykumar, Penke Virabhadrarao, M Venkataramana addressed the protesters.

Later they called on the  Joint Collector Apurva Bharat in a delegation and submitted a memorandum listing out their demands.
