DGP C.V. Anand Flags Off National Motorcycle Rally Against Drugs in Hyderabad
The rally, organised in connection with Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, was flagged off at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is coordinating the campaign as the nodal agency.
Motorcycle riders from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are participating in the rally, which aims to promote national unity, social responsibility and awareness of the harmful effects of narcotics.
Addressing the participants, Anand called for stringent action against the supply and consumption of drugs, expressing concern over their impact on young people.
He said the Central and State governments were working towards the goal of a drug-free India.
In Telangana, the police department, in coordination with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau’s EAGLE Force, was taking measures to curb drug trafficking and consumption.
The State government had established the EAGLE Force to strengthen the fight against narcotics, and strict action was being taken against those involved in drug supply, he said.
Anand highlighted the importance of national unity, stating that India’s diverse languages, cultures and traditions were bound by a common national identity.
He urged citizens to support the campaign against drug abuse and called on the riders to follow traffic rules and ensure road safety throughout the journey.
The participants are scheduled to reach Kevadia by October 30 and take part in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
EAGLE Force Director Sandeep Shandilya, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officer Vikram, Narcotics Control Bureau Assistant Director Vishal, police personnel, NCC students and media representatives attended the flag-off event.
