PwC India Launches Scholarship to Support Women in Technology
The scholarship will initially be available to eligible students entering the second year of BTech and BE programmes at participating institutions, including IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Tiruchirappalli, BITS Pilani, KIIT and other empanelled institutes, the company said in a release on Friday.
The programme is expected to expand to include first-year students in subsequent years.
The initiative also aims to support women from modest economic backgrounds and improve access to opportunities in the technology sector, where women remain underrepresented.
The scholarship will cover the full academic fees of selected students and provide state-of-the-art laptops, mentorship, technical workshops, voluntary internships and pre-placement opportunities with PwC India, where eligible.
Candidates will be selected through a multi-stage process involving eligibility screening, an online assessment and panel interviews conducted by a committee comprising PwC India leaders and external experts.
Final selections will be made in consultation with the participating institutions.
Sanjeev Krishan, Chairperson of PwC in India, said the initiative was aimed at creating more equitable pathways for women in technology by supporting their education, skills development and career progression.
Vivek Prasad, Chief People Officer of PwC India, said empowering women in technology was important for driving innovation and growth in India’s digital economy.
He added that the scholarship reflected the company’s skills-first approach to talent development and its commitment to building a pipeline of women leaders.
The initiative forms part of PwC India’s Vision 2030 commitment to supporting young people and developing a skilled, future-ready workforce.
