Telangana BJP Accuses Telangana Congress Government of Failing to Ensure Women’s Safety

Hyderabad, Oct. 16 (TNT): BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday accused the Congress government in the state of failing to ensure women’s safety and called on party workers to take the Centre’s women-centric welfare schemes to every household.

Addressing the BJP Mahila Morcha state executive meeting in Hyderabad, Rao said the Narendra Modi-led NDA government had introduced several schemes aimed at women’s empowerment, benefiting crores of women across the country.

He cited initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana and Lakhpati Didi, besides programmes for housing, maternity assistance and women’s entrepreneurship.

Rao criticised the Congress, BRS and other opposition parties over their stand on women’s reservation.

He alleged that they had opposed efforts to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies under the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

Expressing concern over crimes against women in Telangana, he cited figures of around 20,000 cases in 2024 and approximately 21,000 in 2025, and demanded that the state government take responsibility and strengthen measures to protect women.

He accused the Congress government of continuing the alleged failures of the previous BRS regime.

BJP Mahila Morcha national president and MP Roop Kumari Choudhary highlighted the Centre’s housing, sanitation, drinking water and financial inclusion programmes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission and Jan Dhan Yojana.

She also referred to initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi, saying they were helping women expand their economic opportunities and participate in entrepreneurship and other sectors.

Choudhary accused opposition parties of adopting inconsistent positions on women’s rights and said the BJP Mahila Morcha would support women seeking justice.

She called on party workers in Telangana to strengthen the organisation and expand its outreach.

BJP Mahila Morcha Telangana in-charge Nalini, state president Dr. Mekala Shilpa Reddy, state office-bearers, executive committee members and other leaders attended the meeting.
