Mohini Avataram Procession Mesmerises Devotees at Tirumala

Tirumala, Oct 16 (TNT):  Malayappa Swamy, adorned in the enchanting Mohini Avataram, captivated devotees during the fifth day of the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala on Friday.

The processional deity was taken out in a grand procession on an ivory palanquin, accompanied by Sri Krishna Swamy on another palanquin.

A large number of devotees gathered to witness the celestial procession.

The Mohini Avataram recalls the episode of the churning of the cosmic ocean, when the Devas and Asuras competed for amritam, the nectar of immortality.

According to Hindu mythology, Sri Maha Vishnu assumed the captivating form of Mohini, outwitted the Asuras and ensured that the nectar was distributed among the Devas, thereby upholding dharma.

In the Tirumala tradition, the Mohini Avataram symbolises the triumph of righteousness over arrogance and desire, highlighting the divine grace bestowed upon those who seek refuge in the Almighty.

The incarnation also conveys the spiritual message that worldly attractions are transient and that devotion to the divine helps devotees overcome desires and progress towards liberation.

Both pontiffs, senior TTD officials, board members and a large number of devotees participated in the occasion.
