SCR Unveils Rail Parcel App; Signs MoU with IIM Bangalore

Hyderabad, Feb 25 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) on Wednesday launched the next-generation ‘Rail Parcel Application’, a digital e-marketplace offering seamless door-to-door parcel booking and delivery services for customers using train transport.

The application was launched by SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at a Rail Parcel Logistics Conclave held at Rail Nilayam here.

Addressing the gathering, Srivastava said SCR is the first zone in Indian Railways to introduce the advanced Rail Parcel App, marking a major step towards digital transformation of parcel services.

He said the app brings parcel booking services directly to customers’ mobile phones, eliminating the need for paperwork and long queues, while ensuring faster movement, transparency and enhanced convenience.

The app provides end-to-end doorstep pickup and delivery, real-time tracking, automated status notifications, transparent selection of logistics service providers with charges and ratings, and secure digital payment options including UPI, debit and credit cards, and online banking.

In the pilot phase, the application has been introduced in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru and Chennai.

On the occasion, SCR also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) to undertake a study on the freight logistics market in the SCR jurisdiction.

Under the partnership, IIM-B will carry out demand forecasting, industry consultations and infrastructure gap assessments, and prepare a strategic roadmap to enhance rail-based freight logistics.

Senior railway officials, including Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, Santosh Kumar Verma, and Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, were present.
