Telangana BJP Prez accuses CM Revanth Reddy of Using Hindu Deities for Political Gain
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Rao alleged that the Chief Minister was using religious references to appeal to voters.
He questioned the Congress leadership’s position on Lord Rama, referring to the party’s past legal arguments concerning the historicity of Rama and its opposition to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Rao also criticised the Congress leadership over its absence from the Ram temple consecration ceremony and accused the party of making contradictory statements on religion for electoral purposes.
He cited the Emergency, forced sterilisation programmes and the dismissal of elected state governments as examples of what he described as the Congress’s undemocratic record.
The BJP leader alleged that the Congress government in Telangana had failed to adequately address incidents involving attacks on temples and urged the Chief Minister to take action against those responsible.
On the drought situation, Rao said BJP leaders had visited the Jurala and Nagarjuna Sagar projects and affected villages to assess the situation.
He said he had also met the family of a farmer in Adilabad who had died by suicide, which he attributed to drought-related distress.
Rao alleged that the Chief Minister and several ministers and legislators had travelled to Delhi despite a communication issued by the Chief Secretary on October 9 calling for a review of drought conditions.
He accused the government of neglecting water shortages and power cuts in Hyderabad and rural areas while spending public money on political protests in the national capital.
Criticising the Congress-led protests over alleged electoral irregularities, Rao said political parties should submit evidence before the Election Commission and other constitutional authorities.
He also objected to demonstrations targeting the Chief Justice of India, describing them as pressure tactics against the judiciary.
Rao said the Congress would face electoral setbacks in the upcoming Assembly elections in several states and accused the party of failing to deliver on its promises in Telangana.
He said Rahul Gandhi should not visit the state until pending student fee reimbursements were cleared and the six guarantees announced during the elections were implemented for farmers, Backward Classes and Dalits.
The BJP state president also urged Revanth Reddy to focus on curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse in Telangana rather than addressing political rallies in neighbouring states.
He alleged that narcotic substances, including ganja, charas, cocaine and MDMA, were readily available in the state and referred to a reported seizure of two kilograms of MDMA.
Rao further cited the Congress’s prolonged absence from power in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat as evidence of its declining political fortunes.
BJP state general secretaries N. Gautam Rao , chief spokesperson and media in-charge N.V. Subhash, and party spokespersons Abhishek Jigini, Suresh and Venkat Reddy were present at the press conference.
