Telangana CM Revanth Targets BJP Ahead of 2027 Goa Polls, Urges Voters to Back Congress

Addressing the Goy Rakhonn Yatra, Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress would return to power in Goa, drawing parallels with Telangana ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections.
He urged voters to back the Congress’s ‘Hand’ symbol, arguing that votes for smaller parties and independents could benefit the BJP by splitting the opposition vote.
Framing the political contest in ideological terms, he said, “The BJP is Ravan and the Congress is Ram. If you want to defeat Ravan, you have to support Ram.”
The Telangana Chief Minister accused the BJP government of allowing Goa to become a hub for drugs and alleged that a property mafia was threatening the state’s land and resources.
He also raised concerns over unemployment among youth and challenged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to explain why the drug menace persisted despite the availability of enforcement agencies at both the state and central levels.
Revanth Reddy cited Telangana’s establishment of the EAGLE force to combat drug-related activities and alleged that investigations had revealed links between drug trafficking networks in Goa and Telangana.
Turning to national politics, he accused the BJP-led Union government of undermining democratic institutions and misusing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to target voters, particularly Dalits, Adivasis and minorities.
He demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and called for accountability from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Revanth Reddy said he was attending the programme as a representative of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was engaged in the party’s political campaign in Delhi.
He urged the people of Goa to support Rahul Gandhi’s efforts against the BJP and called on Congress workers to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in the state.
Praising Goa Assembly Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar for organising the yatra, he said the political atmosphere reminded him of Telangana before the Congress victory in 2023.
Predicting a change in Goa’s political landscape, Revanth Reddy compared the Congress’s expansion to the progress of the monsoon from Kerala to Goa and then towards Delhi.
He said he was confident of a Congress victory in Goa in 2027 and projected it as part of the party’s broader national political ambitions.
“The fight against the BJP will begin here in Goa,” he said, calling on voters to support the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
