aiqa enters consumer health segment, appoints Anuj Arora as CEO
The company, which has been offering health plans exclusively through partners and employers for the past six years, will now make its services available directly to consumers through its website, a company statement said.
aiqa currently generates revenue of approximately Rs 100 crore and adds nearly one lakh members every month across more than 500 cities.
As part of its expansion plans, the company has appointed Arora, who brings 23 years of experience across India, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
He previously served as Executive Vice President and Business Head at MediBuddy and headed Monster’s India small and medium business (SMB) operations, besides overseeing its operations in the Philippines and Hong Kong.
The company’s entry into the consumer health segment comes amid growing awareness among Indians about preventive healthcare, fitness and overall well-being.
aiqa will initially offer ‘Weight Care’, a doctor-led weight loss programme, directly to consumers, with additional health programmes expected to be introduced in the coming months.
aiqa Co-founder and Eleven Managing Partner Karan Chopra said healthcare in India had traditionally been sought only when health problems arose, but consumer attitudes were changing rapidly.
He said people were increasingly willing to invest in their health and well-being, adding that the company would now extend its services directly to individuals after serving customers through employers and partners for six years.
Arora said most health insurance coverage in India remained unused until hospitalisation, while employers and partners were increasingly seeking healthcare solutions that could be utilised throughout the year.
He said his priority would be to expand the reach of aiqa’s health programmes to more customers and employees through its existing partner and employer network.
The company also unveiled a new brand identity and website as part of its expansion strategy.
