515 donors support thalassemia children at Hyderabad blood donation camp

Hyderabad, Oct 5 (TNT): As many as 515 people donated blood at a camp organised by the Paigham-e-Insaniyat Forum (East Zone, Hyderabad) on Monday to support children suffering from thalassemia and ensure timely availability of blood for regular transfusions.

The camp was organised with the objective of helping maintain a regular blood supply for children dependent on frequent transfusions, organisers said.

Representatives of the Thalassemia Sickle Cell Centre (TSCS) thanked the organisers and donors for the initiative. TSCS President Dr Chandrakant Agarwal, CEO and Secretary Dr Suman Jain, Joint Secretary Aleem Baig and Vice-President Ratnavali Kotapalli were among those who attended.

TSCS is currently providing treatment to around 4,800 children, and ensuring a consistent supply of blood for such a large number of patients remains a major challenge, organisers said.

The blood donation campaign is part of the humanitarian and welfare activities undertaken by the All India Paigham-e-Insaniyat Forum and has been conducted regularly for nearly five years.

Maulana Muhammad Nafees Khan Nadwi, a professor at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, travelled to Hyderabad to participate in the camp. Maulana Feroz Ahmad Nadwi also attended the programme and appreciated the initiative.

Noted journalist Abu Aimal, Mufti Nisar Ahmad Nadwi and Maulana Syed Faheemuddin Nadwi were among others present.

Maulana Syed Qutbuddin Nadwi, in-charge of the East Zone unit, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the objectives and humanitarian activities of the forum.

The participants appreciated the forum’s continued efforts and expressed support for similar initiatives in the future.
