AP Govt, TIL Healthcare announce compensation for Sri City blast victims’ families

Sri City (Tirupati Dist), Oct 5 (TNT): The Andhra Pradesh government and TIL Healthcare on Monday announced financial and rehabilitation support for the families of five workers who died in an industrial explosion at TIL Healthcare Private Limited in Sri City SEZ on October 3.

District Collector Dr S Venkateswar, who met the bereaved families at the Sri City Business Centre, said TIL Healthcare would transfer Rs 50 lakh each to the nominees of the deceased workers within two days, while the remaining dues under the workmen’s compensation policy would be disbursed subsequently.

The overall compensation package for the families of Tanniru Vasu, K Chinna Masthan, Gourab Roy, Ramesh Nataraj and B Mohan Raj is Rs 78,56,278, Rs 72,72,234, Rs 76,98,345, Rs 61,50,178 and Rs 65,65,235 respectively.

The Collector said the State government would extend rehabilitation assistance to the affected families, including employment opportunities for eligible dependents.

He also said stringent safety measures would be enforced and safety inspections and audits conducted across all industrial units in the district, including Sri City.

In a release, Sri City Managing Director Dr Ravindra Sannareddy assured the families of further assistance, including support for the education of the victims’ children and employment opportunities for eligible family members.

Third-party safety audits would also be conducted across Sri City units along with government inspections, he said.

Superintendent of Police L Subbarayudu assured that worker safety protocols and regulatory compliance would be strengthened across the industrial zones.
