President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate National Saras Mela in Vijayawada

Amaravati, Oct 5 (TNT): President Droupadi Murmu will formally inaugurate the National Saras Mela 2026 in Vijayawada on October 15, with the event scheduled to showcase women’s entrepreneurship and products made by Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The 17-day mela will be held from October 15 to 31.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to make the event a major platform for promoting women entrepreneurs.

Reviewing programmes for developing five lakh women entrepreneurs and the ‘Swayam AP’ initiative with SERP and MEPMA officials at his camp office, Naidu directed officials to step up efforts to economically empower SHG members.

He called for inviting women entrepreneurs and women MPs from across the country to the event.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that SHGs from across the country would set up 600 stalls at the mela and around one lakh visitors were expected every day.

Sales of ‘Swayam AP’ products through signature stores and Flipkart would also commence from October 15, officials said.
