IndiGo revises fuel charges amid rising ATF prices
New Delhi, Oct 5 (TNT): IndiGo on Monday announced a revision in fuel charges on its domestic and International flights amid a sustained increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices.
The revised charges will be applicable to all new bookings made from 0001 hours on October 6, 2026, the airline said in a release.
IndiGo said ATF prices had remained volatile in recent months, particularly amid geopolitical developments in the Middle East, with the latest month-on-month increase exceeding 14 per cent.
The airline said the rise had pushed ATF costs to among their highest levels in the last decade and was expected to impact the cost structures and network economics of airlines.
Under the revised charges, domestic passengers will pay Rs 375 for routes up to 500 km, Rs 600 for routes between 501 and 1,000 km, Rs 900 for 1,001 to 1,500 km, Rs 1,150 for 1,501 to 2,000 km and Rs 1,300 for routes above 2,000 km.
For international routes, the revised fuel charge will be Rs 1,000 for SAARC routes up to 500 km and Rs 3,000 for SAARC routes of 501 km and above.
The charge will be Rs 5,500 for destinations in Southeast Asia, the GCC and Middle East, and North and East Asia, while it will be Rs 6,000 for Africa and Rs 10,000 for Europe.
IndiGo said the adjustment was measured and relatively modest, as fully offsetting the increase in fuel costs would have required a significantly higher increase in fuel charges.
The airline said it would continue to monitor the situation and make further adjustments as appropriate.
