Medak (Telangana), Oct 4 (TNT): Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday performed the Bhoomi Pujan for Amul’s first state-of-the-art dairy plant in Telangana at Urja Industrial Park in Toopran, Medak district.
The mega integrated dairy plant, to be managed by the Sabarkantha District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (Sabar Dairy), is being established with an estimated investment of Rs 400 crore.
The plant will have a capacity to process five lakh litres of fresh milk daily and manufacture 200 metric tonnes of curd, 30,000 litres each of buttermilk and lassi and 10 metric tonnes of paneer per day, the company said in a release.
It will also have facilities to manufacture 50,000 litres of ice cream, three metric tonnes of sweets and five metric tonnes each of bakery products and ghee daily.

More than 5,000 farmers from Telangana attended the programme.
Sabar Dairy, a founder member of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, began its operations in 1964 with a group of milk producers in North Gujarat.
The cooperative has now expanded its operations to Telangana with the new dairy project.
Around 20,000 farming families in Telangana are already associated with the initiative, while Sabar Dairy aims to expand its network to one lakh farmer families and procure milk from every district of the state.
The project is part of the “White Revolution 2.0” initiative of the Union Ministry of Cooperation, aimed at strengthening dairy cooperatives and expanding market access for farmers.
The programme targets a 50 per cent increase in milk procurement by 2028-29 and the establishment of 75,000 new cooperative societies across the country, including 1,525 in Telangana.
The initiative is expected to create additional opportunities for dairy farmers, generate rural employment and strengthen the dairy cooperative sector in Telangana.
