Telangana to launch all central kitchens for govt school breakfast scheme on December 9
Hyderabad, Oct 2 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday announced that all central kitchens being established across the state to provide breakfast to government school students would be inaugurated simultaneously on December 9.
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all works at the kitchens by November 30 and ensure that the facilities were linked to the Command Control Centre for regular monitoring.
He also suggested making arrangements for students to visit the central kitchens.
During a meeting with representatives of the Hare Krishna Foundation at his Jubilee Hills residence here, Junna Solar Systems Private Limited and Chain Labs India Private Limited signed agreements with the foundation to support the breakfast scheme in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Revanth emphasised the need to provide quality and nutritious food to students to support their health and encourage regular attendance at government schools.
He directed officials to maintain records of students’ physical growth and academic progress to monitor their development.
He also instructed them to develop a mobile application to calculate the calorie content of food served to students.
The Chief Minister reviewed the proposed breakfast menu and suggested that it be prepared in accordance with regional dietary habits.
He stressed that the scheme was a long-term initiative and called for utmost care in its implementation.
Junna Solar Systems and Chain Labs India are collaborating with the Hare Krishna Foundation to establish modern centralised community kitchens in Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad, respectively.
Shekhar Reddy, CMD, and Anil Babu, CEO of Junna Solar Systems, handed over a cheque for Rs 5.17 crore to the foundation for the central kitchen in Nagarkurnool.
Samantha Day, representative, and B Santosh Kumar, vice-president of Chain Labs India, presented a cheque for Rs 4 crore to the foundation towards the construction of a central kitchen in Vikarabad.
The Chief Minister appreciated the two companies for extending financial support to the breakfast scheme.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Vem Narendar Reddy, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Sridhar and Hare Krishna Foundation representative Satya Gaura Chandra Das Swamiji attended the meeting.
