Spintronics AI, CSIR-CEERI partner on GaN semiconductor technology

Hyderabad, Oct 1 (TNT): Hyderabad-based Spintronics AI Semiconductors on Thursday announced that it has signed an MoU with CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI) to facilitate technology and design transfer in gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors.

The partnership will assess the feasibility of setting up an indigenous GaN technology development and fabrication facility in India, including infrastructure requirements, fabrication capabilities and potential manufacturing pathways, the company said in a release.

The collaboration will combine CSIR-CEERI’s expertise in GaN devices and fabrication with Spintronics AI’s capabilities in semiconductor design, engineering and product development.

The company said it was the first in India to enter into such a technology and design transfer partnership with CSIR-CEERI.

GaN semiconductors are used in applications such as defence, aerospace, satellite communications, telecommunications, power electronics and electric mobility.

Spintronics AI Founder and CEO Raghu Varma said the initiative could help expand domestic manufacturing of GaN products for Indian and global markets.

CSIR-CEERI scientist Manish Mathew said the collaboration would support indigenous GaN device development and manufacturing by translating research into industrial applications.

The partnership aims to strengthen India’s domestic semiconductor capabilities and support the development of future GaN manufacturing infrastructure.
