3,000 join cyber security awareness march in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 1 (TNT): Around 3,000 people participated in a two-km light march at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road on Thursday to mark the launch of Cyber Security Awareness Month in Telangana.

Organised by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) under the theme “Pause for Safety”, the march was flagged off by Telangana DGP C V Anand.

Actor Adivi Sesh, Home Department Principal Secretary and TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, and senior police officials also participated.

The participants, including police personnel, students, ex-servicemen, industrial workers and members of the public, used mobile phone flashlights and illuminated LED wristbands to spread awareness about cyber fraud.

Anand urged people to verify information before clicking links, sharing personal details or making payments.

Goel said awareness programmes would be conducted across the state throughout October, with the campaign concluding in district-level marches on October 31.

Awareness stalls set up by the TGCSB, Telangana Narcotics Enforcement Wing, Hyderabad Police SHE Teams, Cyberabad Traffic Police and Fire Services Department focused on cybercrime prevention, drug awareness, women’s safety, traffic safety and fire safety.

The bureau advised victims of financial cyber fraud to immediately call 1930 or lodge a complaint at www.cybercrime.gov.in.
