Telangana ACB catches Moinabad town planning officer in Rs 75,000 bribery case

Hyderabad, Sept 30 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught Gundu Vani, Town Planning Officer of Moinabad Municipality, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 75,000 through Senior Assistant Yelamoni Sudarshan for an official favour.

According to an ACB press release, the bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for not taking coercive action against the complainant’s construction, which was being treated as illegal.

Sudarshan, a former secretary of Moinabad Gram Panchayat who is currently working on deputation as Senior Assistant at the municipality, allegedly received the bribe on behalf of Vani.

The amount was recovered from his possession, the ACB said.

The bureau said both accused had allegedly acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The two accused were being produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.

The case is under investigation.
