Amazon Expands Delivery Partner Infrastructure in Hyderabad, Opens First of Five Ashray Centres
Hyderabad, Sept 28 (TNT): Amazon India on Monday inaugurated its first Ashray rest centre in Kondapur, Hyderabad, under a partnership with the Telangana government to establish five such facilities across the city, as the e-commerce company expands support infrastructure for its last-mile delivery network.
The remaining four centres are expected to become operational by the end of this year, the e-commerce company said in a release.
The facilities are planned in high-footfall areas, including Bharathinagar and Patancheru, to provide delivery drivers with dedicated spaces to rest and recharge during their routes.
The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year between Amazon India and the Telangana government.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has supported the rollout by identifying suitable locations, facilitating approvals and coordinating administrative requirements.
The newly inaugurated centre offers air-conditioned seating, drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, clean washrooms, first-aid kits and resting facilities. These amenities are intended to support delivery personnel who spend extended periods on the road.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Cyberabad Municipal Commissioner G. Srijana, Zonal Commissioner Amit Narayan, Amazon Director of Public Policy Brian Kenner and Amazon India Director Shadab Anwar.
Speaking on the occasion, Srijana said the facility addressed the practical needs of delivery drivers and could improve their everyday working experience by providing dedicated spaces to rest and recharge.
Salim Memon, Director of Operations at Amazon India, said the partnership marked an important milestone in expanding the Ashray network and supporting the well-being of last-mile delivery personnel.
With the new facility, Amazon operates 10 Ashray centres in Hyderabad. Its national network comprises more than 150 centres across 17 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
The expansion highlights the growing importance of support infrastructure for delivery personnel as e-commerce companies strengthen last-mile logistics operations in India.
