Prof Arun A Elias Assumes Charge as Goa Institute of Management Director
Panaji, Sept 28 (TNT): Prof Arun A Elias has assumed charge as the new Director of the Goa Institute of Management (GIM), succeeding Prof Ajit Parulekar, who held the position since 2017.
Prof Elias brings over three decades of academic experience and around 15 years of senior leadership experience across India, New Zealand and Fiji, the Institute said in a release on Monday.
He has been associated with the School of Management at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, for the past 27 years.
His previous leadership roles include Dean of the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies at Fiji National University, Associate Dean (International and Accreditation) at Victoria University of Wellington, and several director-level positions at Victoria Business School.
Prof Elias holds an M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management from IIT Kharagpur and a PhD in Management from Victoria University of Wellington.
He has authored more than 100 publications, including books, peer-reviewed international journal articles, book chapters and conference papers.
He is also an active member of the international accreditation ecosystem, serving as a mentor and peer reviewer for AACSB, EFMD/EQUIS and AMBA/BGA.
In a statement, Prof Elias said GIM would focus on research with real-world impact, innovation in teaching and learning, and socially responsible engagement with stakeholders.
He also outlined the institute’s ambition to become an internationally renowned business school with triple-crown accreditation.
GIM Chairman Ashank Desai said Prof Elias’s academic leadership, international experience, research contributions and global networks would strengthen the institute’s academic and international foundations as it moves towards becoming a university.
Desai also acknowledged the contributions of Prof Ajit Parulekar, who was associated with GIM for 26 years. During his tenure as Director, Parulekar guided the institute through significant institutional transformation, strengthened its academic and international standing, and advanced its journey towards university status.
