National Conference on Rabi Campaign 2026 to begin in New Delhi on Monday
New Delhi, Sept. 27 (TNT): The two-day National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026 will begin here on Monday, bringing together State Agriculture Ministers, senior Central and State government officials, representatives of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other stakeholders to discuss priorities and preparedness for the upcoming Rabi season.
The conference, organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare under the Union Ministry of Agriculture , will be held at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, NASC Complex, Pusa.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the conference.
The deliberations will focus on strengthening Centre–State coordination and evolving an outcome-oriented strategy to enhance agricultural production, productivity and sustainability, besides improving farmers’ incomes.
The discussions will also build on the key outcomes of the recently held zonal agriculture conferences.
The first day will feature thematic discussions on self-reliance, crop diversification and production growth; sustainability and climate-resilient agriculture; and digital agriculture, infrastructure, financing and risk management.
Key issues to be discussed include missions for self-reliance in pulses and edible oils, horticulture, cotton, seed availability, natural farming, soil health, farm mechanisation, Farmer Producer Organisation financing, marketing reforms, Kisan Credit Card coverage, digital agriculture and crop insurance.
The discussions will also seek to identify implementation challenges, State-specific priorities and actionable strategies for the Rabi season, with emphasis on improving coordination among schemes and strengthening their delivery at the field level.
The second day will focus on the outcomes of the thematic discussions and key lessons from the zonal conferences. The agenda will include the Rabi weather outlook, fertiliser availability and balanced use, the Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmer Registry, Digital Crop Survey, AgriStack, crop and seed status, varietal adoption and preparations for agriculture plans through Agricultural Technology Management Agencies (ATMAs) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
State Agriculture Ministers will also share their experiences, priorities and suggestions for agricultural development and Rabi season preparedness.
The conference will conclude with a review of the deliberations and the preparation of a roadmap to enhance Rabi crop production, strengthen farmers’ livelihoods and contribute to food and nutritional security in line with the vision of Atmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat.
