Hyd: Heartfulness Educational Trust, MDNIY sign MoU to promote Yoga Globally

Hyderabad, Sept 27 (TNT): The Heartfulness Educational Trust (HET) and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for five years to jointly promote Yoga education, research, wellness and outreach programmes across India and internationally.

The MoU was signed at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the headquarters of Heartfulness on the outskirts of Hyderabad, with the objective of expanding access to Yoga and meditation by combining MDNIY’s academic and policy expertise with Heartfulness’ implementation capabilities, meditation expertise and global network.

The agreement covers theme-based wellness events, school Yoga education programmes, regional and international outreach, specialised Yoga programmes for persons with disabilities, internships and youth skill development, initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, and the establishment of a Yoga Museum at Kanha Shanti Vanam.

Dr Jyoti Keswani, Director of MDNIY and CCYRN, and Dr Ishwar Acharya, Programme Director, MDNIY, unveiled the MoU in the presence of Revered Daaji, Global Guide of Heartfulness.

Dr Keswani said the partnership would facilitate the joint promotion and coordination of Yoga programmes, academic calendars, annual events, student certification, data analysis and dissemination of research findings.

Daaji said the collaboration would bring together academic expertise, research, practical experience and a global implementation network to make Yoga and meditation more accessible.

Under the agreement, the institutions will jointly develop school Yoga programmes aligned with CBSE, ICSE, NCERT and AYUSH guidelines.

They will also organise teacher-training workshops, develop educational material and provide joint certification for trained educators.

The partnership will extend Yoga and wellness programmes to persons with visual, hearing and other disabilities through specialised training for certified teachers.

Heartfulness meditation sessions will also be integrated into MDNIY programmes, with monthly and ongoing meditation support offered free of charge at MDNIY locations.

The MoU provides for internship opportunities for MDNIY students at Heartfulness Yoga and wellness centres, along with youth empowerment programmes combining Yoga, leadership and community service.

Skill-certification modules will also be developed to improve practical experience and employability among young Yoga professionals.

The two institutions will collaborate on Yoga and wellness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and facilitate the creation of a Yoga Museum at Kanha Shanti Vanam.

The Trust will use its network of practitioners and centres in more than 150 countries to support international Yoga programmes and outreach through Indian Cultural Centres, embassies and Indian missions abroad.

The institutions will also organise Yoga and wellness conclaves, exhibitions and workshops in India and other countries.

MDNIY will provide Yoga instructors and support staff as required and support approved collaborative research projects.

The Trust will provide infrastructure, research implementation support and access to its global network, subject to approved research protocols.
