Congress Booth-Level Agents Are Party’s Pillars: Telangana Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka
Nagulavanch (Khammam district), Sept 27 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday described Congress booth-level agents (BLAs) as the pillars of the party and called upon them to take the government’s welfare and development programmes to every household.
Addressing the Chintakani Mandal Congress BLA Atmeeya Sammelanam at Nagulavanch village, he assured party workers that the party and the government would stand by them and recognise their efforts in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
Praising the performance of BLAs in Chintakani mandal, Bhatti Vikramarka said their work was outstanding compared with that of other mandals.
Describing the Congress as a mother, he said he respected every party worker striving to strengthen the organisation.
He urged BLAs to ensure that people were aware of government welfare schemes and development initiatives, stating that their role was crucial in strengthening public confidence in Praja Palana.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Madhira Assembly constituency had lagged in development during the previous decade in the absence of a Congress government.
The development backlog accumulated over the past 15 years would be addressed during the present five-year term, he said, adding that pending works relating to schools, roads, hospitals and other infrastructure would be prioritised over the next two years.
Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, he said nearly 1.06 crore families across Telangana were receiving six kilograms of fine rice free of cost every month. The government was also providing free bus travel for women and had revived the DWCRA loan system, with a target of extending loans worth ₹1 lakh crore.
Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, households consuming up to 200 units of electricity a month were being provided free power. Around 80 to 90 per cent of households in villages were benefiting from the scheme, he said.
The Rajiv Aarogyasri health coverage had been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh to facilitate medical treatment for poor families, he said.
The Indiramma Bheema scheme, which provides ₹5 lakh in insurance coverage to every family in the state, would be launched on November 19, he announced.
In the education sector, the government had cleared pending fee reimbursement arrears left by the previous government and introduced a system for transferring the amounts directly to students’ bank accounts, he said.
Nearly 27 lakh students in government schools were being provided free hot breakfast, milk and ragi porridge. Young India Integrated Residential Schools were also being constructed on 25 acres in every Assembly constituency, with facilities planned to international standards, he added.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was implementing the farmers’ loan waiver scheme and providing investment assistance of ₹12,000 per acre.
TPCC observer Duddilla Srinu Babu, Khammam District Congress Committee president Noothi Satyanarayana Goud, Congress mandal president Kanneboyina Gopi and other party leaders and workers attended the meeting.
