Telangana: ACB arrests Metpally CDPO for allegedly accepting Rs 63,000 bribe
Karimnagar, Sept 26 (TNT): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Metpally in Jagtial district, Daru Padma, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 63,000 from a complainant in return for not making adverse remarks during the inspection of Anganwadi centres.
According to an ACB press note, the accused woman officer had allegedly demanded illegal gratification of Rs 1,000 per month from each of the 21 Anganwadi centres under the Metpally urban mandal.
The bribe amount for three months worked out to Rs 63,000.
The ACB’s Karimnagar unit caught the officer red-handed while she was allegedly accepting the amount from the complainant outside her office premises.
The tainted money was recovered from her possession, the agency said.
The accused officer is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
