Hyderabad police announce traffic restrictions for Ganesh immersion on Sept 25
Hyderabad, Sept 23 (TNT): Hyderabad City Police has announced extensive traffic restrictions and diversions in the city in view of the Ganesh immersion procession on September 25.
The Trafficrestrictions coming into force from 0600 hours on September 25 and continuing until 1000 hours on September 26.
According to a notification issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, vehicles other than those carrying Ganesh idols will not be allowed on the main procession route during the period.
Restrictions on NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road), Tank Bund and Khairatabad Flyover may continue until the evening of September 26, depending on the situation.
The main procession will proceed from Balapur Ganesh Mandapam through Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Charminar, Afzalgunj, M.J. Market, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty Junction and Ambedkar Statue before reaching NTR Marg and PVNR Marg (Necklace Road).
Separate procession routes have been notified for idols arriving from Secunderabad, Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, Tarnaka, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam, Erragadda, Tappachabutra, Asifnagar, Kulsumpura, Jiyaguda, Attapur, Aramghar, Kamatipura and Bahadurpura areas.
Police said traffic will be diverted at several points across Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Golconda, Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones.
Commuters have been advised to use the Inner Ring Road, Masab Tank–Punjagutta–Begumpet–Secunderabad route or the Outer Ring Road to avoid congestion.
Visitors attending the immersion have been advised to park at designated locations, including NTR Stadium, Katta Maisamma Temple/Lower Tank Bund Road, Martyrs Memorial Parking, Vishveshwaraiah Bhavan, Institute of Engineers, MMTS Khairatabad, Public Gardens and Qilwath Ground, among others.
Heavy commercial vehicles, trailers and local lorries will face restrictions, while local lorries and construction equipment vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 0600 hours on September 25 to 2300 hours on September 26.
RTC city buses will also be diverted at several points during peak procession hours.
Inter-State and inter-district buses will face restrictions from 0600 hours on September 25 to 0800 hours on September 26.
Police have advised people travelling to or from the airport to avoid Necklace Road, NTR Marg and Tank Bund and use the PVNR Expressway or Outer Ring Road.
Passengers travelling to or from Secunderabad Railway Station have been advised to use the Begumpet–Paradise Flyover–St John’s Rotary–Sangeeth X Road route.
Devotees can also immerse idols at 47 designated lakes and ponds across various circles, according to the notification.
