AP: Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam performed at Tiruchanoor temple

Tirupati, Sept 22 (TNT): The traditional Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was performed at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor near here on Tuesday as part of preparations for the annual Pavitrotsavams scheduled from September 24 to 26.

The temple premises, including walls and ceilings, and puja articles were thoroughly cleansed with water.

Sacred water prepared with sandalwood, turmeric, camphor, kumkum and other fragrant substances was subsequently sprinkled throughout the temple.

Devotees were allowed darshan from 9 a.m., while Kalyanotsavam and Unjal Seva were cancelled for the day as part of the preparations.

The Ankurarpanam for the Pavitrotsavams will be performed on the evening of September 23, followed by Pavitra Pratishta on September 24, Pavitra Samarpana on September 25 and Purnahuti on September 26.

The Pavitrotsavams are conducted according to Vaikhanasa traditions to preserve the sanctity of the temple and as a prescribed ritual to rectify any inadvertent lapses.

Several Arjitha Sevas will remain cancelled from September 23 to 26 in view of the Pavitrotsavams.
