AP CM Naidu unveils development projects, sets ‘Golden Kuppam’ goal
Kuppam, Sept 21 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said Kuppam had given him his political life and that he wanted major government initiatives to begin from the constituency, while setting a goal of transforming it into a “Golden Kuppam”.
Addressing a public meeting during his two-day visit to Kuppam, Naidu said the government was implementing development programmes with renewed focus and preparing comprehensive plans to transform the constituency into a model constituency.
He said water had been brought to Kuppam through the Handri-Neeva canal, enabling the filling of 133 tanks.
With the state facing drought conditions this year due to El Niño, the government was considering reservoirs at Yamiganipalli and Manapalli and plans were underway to interconnect more than 550 minor irrigation tanks in Kuppam through lift irrigation and pipelines, the CM said.
The Chief Minister urged farmers to adopt natural farming and PMDS methods and promote horticultural crops through micro-irrigation.
He also advocated millet cultivation and greater focus on dairy farming and poultry to enhance farm incomes.
Naidu said foundation stones had been laid during his previous visit for projects worth Rs 7,939 crore in Kuppam, while projects worth Rs 38 crore in Kuppam Municipality and another Rs 289 crore were taken up during the latest visit.
He inaugurated a Rs 3.30-crore Integrated Solid Waste Management and Material Recovery Plant and launched 14-15 MW PM-KUSUM solar projects for agricultural feeders.
Development works worth Rs 10 crore are being taken up in 35 schools, while a Skill Development Centre of Manasa Sarovar Global University was inaugurated at the NAC building.
A modern Rythu Bazaar would be constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore, while RDO and DSP offices were being built at a cost of Rs 13 crore.
Other works include Rs 15 crore worth of development projects, Rs 8 crore for high-mast street lighting and Rs 184 crore for underground utilities in Kuppam Municipality.
A reservoir near Beeruvanipalle would be constructed through the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi Kuppam Branch Canal at a cost of Rs 45 crore, while a junior college would be established near Mallanur at an estimated cost of Rs 27 crore.
BT and CC roads would be developed at a cost of Rs 16 crore, besides a Heritage Granite Stone Cluster and development works worth Rs 2.50 crore at Kuppam Market Yard.
The Chief Minister said around 8,500 DWCRA women in Kuppam were being provided digital literacy and entrepreneurship training.
He said 32 industries had been established in the constituency and that industries and allied activities had generated employment opportunities for local youth during the past two years.
He said skill training was being provided to help local youth secure employment in industries in the area, with Birla Institute and Manasa Sarovar Global University involved in skill-development programmes.
Naidu also announced that the Dadar-Puducherry Express would halt at Kuppam Railway Station from Monday.
He said national highways were being developed to connect Kuppam with Bengaluru, Chennai, KGF and Krishnagiri, while an alternative Kuppam-Pogurupalli-Bengaluru road was also being constructed.
The Chief Minister said he had requested the Union Railway Minister to establish a broad-gauge railway line connecting Chittoor with Kuppam and that connectivity was being strengthened to facilitate movement of goods from Kuppam to Krishnapatnam Port.
He further announced that an airport would soon be established in Kuppam.
“Our goal is to transform this constituency into a Golden Kuppam. We also aim to install solar rooftops on every household in the constituency,” Naidu added.
