Jammu: CBI arrests J&K agriculture officer, two others in bribery case

Jammu, Sept 21 (TNT) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three persons, including a Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) and an Agricultural Extension Assistant (AEA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Department, in connection with an alleged bribery case.

The CBI registered the case on September 19 following allegations that the SDAO had demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a complainant for releasing his subsidy under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

According to the agency, the SDAO had directed the complainant to hand over the bribe either to the AEA or a private person.

The CBI subsequently laid a trap and caught the AEA and the private person allegedly while demanding and accepting Rs 15,000 from the complainant.

The SDAO was later arrested from his residence.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
