Nodal officers appointed to expedite Adilabad joint-use airport project:Union Minister Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad, Sept 20 (TNT): Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said nodal officers had been appointed by the Ministries of Defence and Civil Aviation for coordination with the Telangana government to expedite the construction of a joint-user airfield for civil and defence purposes at Adilabad.
In a post on X, Reddy said the appointments followed his discussions with the two ministries regarding the proposed Air Force Training Centre and Joint User Airfield (JUA) at Adilabad.
He said the Defence Ministry would develop infrastructure including facilities for trainer aircraft, visiting aircraft parking and dispersals, weather shelters, aircraft hangars, an operational complex, training facilities and maintenance infrastructure.
On the civilian side, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) would establish a civil terminal and a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, he said.
The project would also require residential and other supporting infrastructure for defence personnel, including single and married accommodation, sports and recreational facilities and essential amenities, besides engineering utilities such as water supply and sanitation, Reddy said.
He urged the Telangana government to appoint a nodal officer to facilitate coordination among all stakeholders and help expedite the project.
