Heavy rain likely in Telangana for next three days: IMD
Hyderabad, Sept 20 (TNT): Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in a few districts of Telangana over the next three days under the influence of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a deep depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
According to the weather office, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in a few districts of the state on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are also likely at isolated places during the period.
The Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, said light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likely at isolated places over a few districts on Sunday, while similar weather conditions were likely at a few places over many districts on Monday and Tuesday.
The low-pressure area over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and lay centred over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea at 8.30 am on Sunday.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal on Monday and further into a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal by Tuesday, the bulletin said.
Continuing its west-northwestward movement, the system is likely to reach the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts by Wednesday morning, the bulletin added.
